Your tuner needs to have experience tuning VTEC motors with whatever engine management system you are going to get. Basically, you need to find a competent tuner first, then ask what he is comfortable with tuning. He'll probably know more about the AEM EMS than the FIC.

I Know, $800 for tuning is completely outrageous! But I dont know where to take my S. I live in Knoxville Tennessee and I have only been able to fine 2 places that have even worked with these cars. The cheapest I have been able to find the AEM EMS for $1000. Do you think that the greddy emanage would do the trick for my setup? I dont do track days or anything like that, the car is just fun and my daily driver. and yes... I build a stroker motor for my N/A daily driver.
My tuner will practically fly up to TN from FL and tune your car for that price. Keep looking.

It would be worthless to buy a certain EMS, then nobody near you will be able to tune it correctly. Find some tuners that have experience with vtec motors like gernby said, and find out what they are comfortable tuning. Then go from there on what to buy.

Don't use AEM FIC. Save up for a quality engine management unit or don't drive it for now. No point doing a stroker kit but cheaping out on tuning the car possibly screwing your engine up and having to do it all over again!

I recently stroked my 2.0L to a 2.4L with the Brian Crower stroker kit. I havent yet have it tuned but when I do I would like to have my VTEC programmed to kick in at 4500 RPM's instead of the factory 6000. Does anyone know if that is a complicated request, or is it just something simple that any tuning location should be able to do? I do not plan on a full EMS I'm just planning on running an AEM FI/C.

Any information on this would be helpful, thanks!

Get an EMS! No other route will do. If you don't have the money to get proper engine management don't do a 2.4L stroker.

You will most definitely BLOW the engine with that POS FIC, not to mention whoever the tuner is quoting you 800 is a dousche and a fraud.... Liberty 1 racing, S&R or some other jack ass in florida I presume?

That's quite an overstatement. The actual odds of him blowing his motor with a FIC are probably quite a bit higher than with any other EMS, but is mostly dependent on the competency of the tuner. If a competent tuner sets up the FIC properly and tunes it well, I seriously doubt he would blow his motor. I think he would just have driveability and performance issues that would irritate the fock out of him.

Ok. You guys win. I'll buy an AEM EMS even though I cant afford it, but its probably best considering literally EVERYONE has told me to do so. I guess the best place to get it is a used one on the forums, does anyone know who's selling one for a good deal? Thanks to everyone for all your help.

Just keep an eye on the fs forums. I bought one locally recently for $800. The 1052 model.
