Default What do you think this engine is worth?

I blew my motor last night in my 03 AP1, I can't find any motors for sale in my area (stockton, CA) except for one. Seller says the motor has 210 compression across the board, 113k miles, comes with transmission as well and he wants $3,000. Is that a fair price? I haven't really been into the S2000 used parts scene so not sure about it's market value. Any input is greatly appreciated!!!

you can get them for a much better price than that and usually with less mileage

What happened with your motor...just curious.

3K seems a bit high.

Same here, 3k for that motor is too much. But what'd you do to your old one?

3k is way to high for an f20 with 113k miles. 3k will usually get an f22 with around 35k. If the motor didn't damage the head I would recommend getting a new short block from honda and putting your existing head on.
What happened to your motor? Can you have it resleeved?

I don't know where you guys are getting your prices from. I was in the same position last fall and Couldn't find an F22 with less then 65k miles and $3500. But 2-3 years ago you could without much problem. $3000 for an f20 with 130k is too expensive I agree, but remember that it comes with a trans, which assuming that still works is worth a good $500. $2500 for a higher mileage F20 is a little higher then id want, but in the ballpark. You cant get a complete brand new short block for less then $3800. You can get a bottom end, minus the oil pan, timing chain and oil pump assy and front timing cover for $3000. If you want a complete valve cover to oil pan F motor new, its over 6k. These are all Majestic prices.

My motor have been making a lot of clicking/clunking noises. Figured it might have been the TCT but it does have 170k miles and believe it might have been turbo'd/abused before I bought it. Was planning to getting another motor prior to this. I took it a couple of times to 9k then next thing I know, I heard a couple of loud noises as if something broke then saw things coming out of my exhaust!! Haven't had time to pull it apart yet but figured it'd be a safer bet to find a motor from someone reputable and just throwing it in.

I tried to post a WTB thread in Bay Area section but it won't let me! =x
