Why isn't an AP1 motor a choice? I would personally stick with the AP1 motor, or rebuild. Throwing a rod can be pretty devastating, so take a look at the numbers and go from there. A rebuild might be more expensive than a new block depending on the damage.

And for price comparison, I got my short block replaced by Honda with a brand new crate motor for $6100. Yeah, it sucks, but I needed it done sooner rather than later. So, that's what you're looking at if you take it in. I would assume MUCH cheaper if you're going to do the swap yourself and buy a used motor.

depending on how you do the 2.2, you may loose the 9k rev. if your block is still good, why don't you do a rebuild with strong internals.

the rod broke a chunk off the starter so i dont think the block is any good, i also been reading that its best to keep f22 eng. & trans together due to diff. tranny gearing.
