I've sandblasted two sets in the past, one of them being AP2V1's. It will leave a slight texture. Helps paint stick very well though. I painted with a heavy duty industrial paint after. Finish came out smooth.

I have sand-blasted AP1 rims (winter setup). The texture is by far my favorite finish in terms of metal finishing techniques, and it helps the paint stick amazingly well. I was this [__] close to leaving them raw aluminum, then decided it was too boring .

Edit: The only rim finish that DOESN'T sandblast well is chrome. That stuff sucks because it bubbles and looks like ass if you're not careful. Ask me how I know .

Ok well every shop in Michigan must be a bunch of wagon wheels. Bc 3 different shops turned me down bc my rims are aluminum and they don't wanna risk damaging the wheel. And it's not like I could have them powdercoat my rims white over factory rpf1 silver

I've had a compressor housing and aftercooler sandblasted then powdercoated. No issues that I'm aware of. People just don't want to be held liable for anything these days. Can you find a friend or shop that will let you sandblast them yourself? Its pretty easy to do, just takes some time.

The only issue i see is if the sandblaster is big enough, it can put some serious heat (from friction) into very concentrated areas if used improperly. So some weakening or warping could happen. I have seen some giant sandblasting booths before when i was an iron worker. Surprisingly easy to curl a piece of steel using one.
