Default Wraping OEM header

Are there any benefits to wrapping the OEM header and deleting the heat shield ? Busted a couple bolts off the shield removing it and was thinking of cutting the tabs off and wrapping it instead. Would keeping more heat in the pipe help with scavenging any? Also tried searching for this UK exhaust mod I keep seeing and didn't see anything. I haven't checked YouTube yet, is it just a sound upgrade I am assuming?

I've had an OEM header wrapped for YEARS and many track days. According to the pic upload dates, it's been about 9 years.
Grinding off all the heatshield mounting tabs is a royal pain in the ass but the end result looks fantastic if you take your time.

Performance, I have no idea.

It's screwed to the fence post as I found it easiest to work on like that.
Zip ties were later removed and replaced with the Thermo-Tec stainless solutions.

What width and length of wrap did you use ? Looks good, I would think this would be as good at taken care of heat issues as the shield. Yes I agree, what a pain in the ass to get off and two bolts had to be twisted off. I had my cold air intake on my Vette wrapped also to keep intake charge cooler.

I used 1 roll of 50" x 1" for the primaries (easy to go around bends) and 1 roll of 50" x 2" for the bigger pipes (straighter bends).

FWIW, aftermarket headers are MUCH lighter than the OEM header.... if you're into light weight stuff. lol
