Default Header Wrap OEM or otherwise?

Since i can easily obtain an OEM header I was considering wrapping an OEM header as a cheap Winter project and at the same time grind off the shield mounting points to clean up the look.

I have it on my old dsm and it works well, it keeps the underhood temps down considerably. I have heard of people having problems with cracking manifolds after installing heat wrap, but I have a stainless header on my dsm and never had any trouble.

Definitely mixed results...I'm one of the one's who has experienced cracking with a stainless steel exhaust as well. And cracking is a bit of an understatement...an entire Ansa exhaust literally fell apart.

If you can pick up a OEM header cheap, then not much to loose in trying it. But I'm not going to risk wrapping my Toda header...too much money to risk it...I had it Jet-Hot coated and fabricated my own heatshield for it.
