I average 26mpg on the OEM ECU. Their is no reason you guys should be getting that low of mileage.

I also averaged 26mpg with my H22 Prelude. Then with bolt on's, Hondata S300 and some street tuning by me, I was achieving 29mpg(mixed driving). The key is to run lean with more timing, at the low load points. I was running 16:1 A/F while cruising. With modern injectors being as good as they are, you can go even leaner; I was using the not so modern DSM 450's.
my car is not tuned for mileage... and mpg is also based on driving style the numbers i posted were averages there are times i have gotten the 30mpg lets just say id rather drive the car than postpone getting gas

What are the avg miles to the tank you should be getting? I feel like im always filing up but then again I realize this car has a 3 less gallons than my last car.

If it was street tuned before it was put on the dyno, then it should be. Dyno tuning is only 5% of the whole tune. I was able to achieve 3mpg, on average, with my limited knowlege of tuning; H22 Prelude. You are right though, driving style plays a big part in MPG.

like i said... the car was not tuned to increase gas mileage... it was tuned for driveablity... and it probably doesn't help that I generally shift at 7-9k

but yes if i wanted to get better fuel economy I could easily lean all my maps out like crazy but it changes a lot of other characteristics of how the car runs... its a common understanding that more power takes more gas... if i wanted 30 mpg id go buy a damn fit

<sigh>

all that you posted just shows that your driving style and your untuned part throttle/ light load are the reason for your diminished mpg.

richer doesnt mean more driveable

for daily driving shift sooner and have the part throttle/lightload map tuned correctly and you will have a car that runs better, goes further between pump visits, and prolly fouls out plugs slower.

Some people need to look into tuning further.

You can have WOT tuned for power and at the same time have you're low loads tuned for MPG. For my H22 Prelude I tuned my WOT to 13:1, part throttle to 14.7 and my cruising loads to 16:1. So you don't have to lean out the WHOLE map just to get better MPG. Your at your cruising loads ONLY when you're cruising.

Also if your revving to 8k on the street. Please stop. You give Honda's, imports for that matter, a bad name.

I do control the mileage since i bought the car (new in 2008)

In the last 23.000 miles I have an average of "exactly" 21.7MPG(US) (with stock ECU)

Thats extremely good (compared to other "similar" cars)

I rarely get over 20 MPG due to a heavy foot, and have probably gotten over 24 MPG a couple times due to mixing in more highway miles.
