Default '04 ZO6 engine 22K miles in an AP1

I found a very nice 2004 Z06 engine with 22K miles on it up
for sale.
Seems the Chevy was rear-ended and subsequently parted out...
its asking price is $4500. with seemingly not a lot
of wiggle room according to owner who says he would rather
it sat in his living room then to "give it away"!

Any gut-gut feelings on this?
thx

A LS6 is not worth a large premium over an LS1. Buy a dirt cheap LS1 put on new heads, intake and a cam. And you have a better engine than an LS6

+1 on the LS1, you can build one with more HP for less than $4500.

LS1s are all iron blocks though right? If you care about weight I'd get gen 3 Al block or newer. But I'm no expert on the topic. .02

I'm pretty sure all LSxs are aluminium blocks. The LQxs are essentially the same but iron blocks from the trucks. I could be wrong though. Either way the LS6 isn't worth that money.

LT1's are the iron blocks you're thinking of

just shows what I know...I thought for sure a

Well it would be for the right price. Who wouldn't want to bolt in a ready to go 500hp/trq v8 option. Its still the highest NA output motor option from the factory.

The ZO6 motor in questions is 385-405hp.
