4.77 FD for AP2..insanity?
Anyone running/have run 4.77 FD on their AP2?
How crazy would this be?
I've decided my only mods for my '06 will be gears/GC coils/CR sways..
and maybe someday a little Hondata play..
but in regards to gearing I'd like 4.57 but am in fear of how loud the "whine"
is from those...and I'd like 4.44 but don't feel it might be enough for the expense..
and I hear 4.77 are OEM quiet..
any opines?

Whine can occur with any gear set if they aren't installed correctly (very hard to do).
If you compare gear ratios alone, then an AP1 with 4.77's might be about like an AP2 with 4.44's. However, if you consider the lower rev limit of the F22, then an AP2 with STOCK gearing is about like an AP1 with 4.77's. The shift points are almost identical in gears 1-4. I had 4.77's in my AP1, and enjoyed them on the street, but they ruined the car for autocross and track events. Now that I have an AP2, I'd would never even consider anything lower than stock gearing. I've actually considered going the other way with it, by installing an AP1 secondary reduction gear.

Whining gears means they weren't installed properly and will place accelerated wear on the gearset.
