Default Aftermarket Intake Manifold for NA

All,

I don't think there has been any conclusive answers to this question, but I'm happy to be pointed in the right direction.

There has been a lot of talk about the stock intake manifold being a restriction once you have done I/H/E, test pipe, cams and a larger throttle body. Instead of going with ITB's I'm going to look at buying one of the following intake manifolds;
  • Hypertune
  • AFI
  • InlinePro
  • Endyn
  • Magnus Motorsports
  • BMC Racing
  • Another one you may suggest

I know most of these were designed for turbo applications but the InlinePro (at least) has been shown to be ok for NA also. I'm not looking for comments about whether the hp increases are worthwhile for the money, I just want to know if you think any of these would be worse than the stock intake manifold. Also, if you could have any of the above (on an NA motor) which would you go for?

I look forward to your thoughts....

My car is an AP1 btw.

CFM only tells you half the story.

yea, but its better to get the one that can flow the most cfm because it will have less restrictions.

I don't have CFM numbers for any of them. Does anyone think that any of these manifolds with a 74mm throttle body will actually hurt power & torque compared to OEM?

I have not done this to any Honda intake, that said I did have a set of s/b Chevy heads done and it did make a difference in power. I would give them a call and talk to someone that knows more than I do about the process and what it will do for air-flow.
I would port match the intake first and if your going to use a larger T/B, bore out the T/B side of the intake and send it in for a level 1 processing.

Larry from Endyn was not that confident about the F20C - this is what he told me;

...even with the other modifications you have listed, a 74mm throttle body will kill any torque the engine's going to produce. A 68mm unit would be more efficient. The fabricated intake manifolds are really designed more for 2.2 liter (and larger) engine combinations, so I believe your performance could suffer a bit. We do offer a cut, port, weld manifold that would better suit your 2-liter engine...

This is interesting because the two threads below are suggesting there are good gains to be had from a 70mm (or larger) throttle body;
