Ap1 with Ap2 Tranny?
What exact gains would you see from using a Ap2 Tranny on a F20C? I know that supposedly the AP2 has shorter gears 1-3 but how would that go into lap times and how hard is it to do?
I saw a member with this listed in his modifcations section but I cant remember were it was to ask him myself. Thanks.
(also I tried searching both here and s2kca but couldnt find any articles. If you know of ne please me know. Thanks)

Whether or not an AP2 trans would improve your lap times depends on the track. If you find yourself having to be in 3rd gear exiting a critical corner with the AP2 trans, where in the AP1 trans you're be in 2nd, the AP2 trans is likely to make you slower.
For street usage, the AP2 transmission might be better (lower gearing in 1-4, taller 6th). But for track usage, I wouldn't bother. Consider that the AP1 transmission has closer 4-5-6 ratios, too, which is a slight advantage at faster tracks (less rpm loss going to 5th).

I think its a good combo since the 1st 3 gears are shorter thus then making the AP1 even more lively to drive, along wit the 9k redline. And i think it will improve the gas consumption (highway) also since the 6th gear is longer.

Huge power gains bro.. enough to ghost ride your whip around gas pumps.

if I understand correctly the ap2 trans has a shorter secondary reduction gear. So it's not only a matter of shorter 1-4 gears, but of the whole trans. Think of it this way: Instead of Honda releasing the AP2 with a 4.30 final drive, they instead changed the reduction gear in the trans and kept the 4.10 final. Someone correct me on the numbers if I'm wrong.

the CDV is located on the clutch slave cylinder and is not an internal part of the transmission. There's a sticky somewhere around here that shows how to remove it. Another way to go about the job is to buy an aftermarket reman. cylinder. They do not include the CDV.. at least the 2 that I've recently bought didn't.
I've seen the ap2 trans around the 5-$700 range.. and that reminds me, I need to replace mine due to a messed up 2nd gear synchro

AP1
1st: 3.133
2nd: 2.045
3rd: 1.481
4th: 1.161
5th: 0.970
6th: 0.810
Secondary gear reduction: 1.160
Final drive: 4.100
Reverse: 2.800
AP2
1st: 3.133
2nd: 2.045
3rd: 1.481
4th: 1.161
5th: 0.943
6th: 0.763
Secondary gear reduction: 1.208
Final drive: 4.100
Reverse: 2.800
And the only difference I saw was the secondary gear reduction..... yet everyone says the GEARS are shorter....? Either they are really miss informed and dont know what they are talking about or misunderstood what the numbers meant...
