Default F20 and F22 Head compatability

After a brief search I couldn't find anything, so sorry if this has been asked a couple thousand times already

Is it possible to install an F20 head onto an F22 without any modification? Thanks, ShocK

they are interchangable.

the only difference is the 06+ heads dont have the passages for the air pump.

yes, but you'll get a cel for the air pump unless you have aem ems or kpro, etc.

You'll want to keep the ap1 cams.

Well I have a dbw so it shouldn't be a issue?

thats right. the only difference in the heads is the air pump passages. everything bolts up exactly the same.

So what can be done about the passages on the later heads? Can they be filled? Or just deal with the stupid ass gasket and cover?

AP1 and AP2 heads are interchangeable. The major difference is the 06+ DBW heads, which do not have the air passages drilled out.

Installing a DBW head on a pre 06 car requires the air pump to be deleted, since there is no provision to run it.

Installing a pre DBW head on an 06+ requires the passages to be plugged. You can do this one of two ways... Tapping each exhaust port hole and installing a set screw with an epoxy to make it permanent, or, tap the main passage on the back side of the head and install a socket head plug (3/8" works perfect).

I usually just weld the ports up... you can drill and tap any number of places, you can even install the cover and gasket and air pump valve on the 06+ manifold.. lots of ways to do it.
