Default Gears for Ap2

Ok well i've been reading and reading but it seems like no one can really give out an answer to which gear is best for the AP2. I see that everyone is talking about the Ap1 and 4.7 FD. I just want to know which gear is good for the AP2 for DD/Track. I wanted to go for the 4.7 but it seems like ppl are saying 4.7 is to much for the ap2? I don't want the 4.56 cause i read that it makes a noise. So is my option really only a 4.4? or would i be able to still use the 4.7?(hopefully that doesn't kill my gas that much more than stock) Or should i just not get gears and spend the money else where. Please don't tell me to go FI i wanna stay N/a

Regards,

David

I run 4.77 in my AP2, its fine with me. Top speed is pretty low 132mph. At the track I'm using 4th, 5th, and 6th(on straightaways). Depends on what you want to do with the car, 4.777 will always be faster but can you live with it? I can, I've been thinking about 4.44's for highway and higher speed courses, but we have no local tracks so my car is mostly street and I get 23/24mph in the city so I really haven't seen a difference in mpg in the city anyways. I haven't driven enough highway to compare but my AP1 got 29mpg on the highway with exact same gears.

I've been contemplating the same thing for years now. This video makes me think twice about 4.77s in my AP2.

acceleration looks good on that ap2. is it the highway rpms causing you to hold back from the purchase?

Its the highway rpm and the fact that 3rd gear tops out <70mph. But the acceleration would be fun.

I am planning to track my S and was contemplating 4.44 gears. 95% well known drivers in the R&C forum all want to go back to stock 4.10 to not have to lose time shifting during corners.

Just a thought.......
