Its true
if you check the official header thread it says in there that the megan is the only aftermarket hearder that uses a heat sheild.
I would be willing to bet that your cf heatshield will only work with a stock header.

Now it would seem you must choose between getting another header or keeping your CF heatshield

What is this? I didn't know that PWJDM makes a heat shield for the OEM header. Are you sure you are thinking of the right thing? The heat shield that will NOT work with headers is the metal cover that bolts directly onto the OEM header. Any header should be compatable with the heat shield that blocks radiant heat from the battery and fuse box, or even the heat shields that block radiant heat to the intake box.

This thread confuses me. If i'm reading all this right, there isn't a header that you can put the OEM header heatshield on. You currently just have a PWJDM engine block heatshield, correct? This has nothing to do with the header, and will not get in the way of any aftermarket header. I have a carbon Moddiction heatshield (same thing but doesnt extend as far as the PWJDM one) I've had this with the OEM, and my aftermarket header, and it's not even near anything right there.

And this is the entire reason if i got any header it would be heatwrapped, i don't care if it cracked after a year or 2 (it wouldn't) from metal fatigue from the high temperature cycling.

^just get it ceramic coated.

I've seen with my own eye's that wrapped headers can crack after a few years.

I've only wrapped 1 header, and I think it lasted about 2 months before it cracked. Honestly though, I don't see any reason to worry about the heat anyway. If you have a decent CAI and an adequate cooling system, it just doesn't matter.

I'm sick and tired of people thinking underhood temps don't matter. The engine has to run hot, we've established that, but that DOES NOT MEAN everything has to run hot.

Anything to rid the underhood temps is very effective.
