on long runs i guess it would give you some benefits since it would prevent the occurence of heat soak however I don't think the difference would be significant enough for you to feel it. use the heat wrap on your header instead.

Use gold reflective foil.

Keep in mind, the header / manifold / downpipe wrap is designed to hold in heat (insulate) the exhaust pipe, not reflect the heat away. The gold or silver heat reflecting foil would be the corect choice.

Please do not use Gold Reflective Foil. Had a kid down here in S. Fl do it and we measured the heat difference and it was the same. This is a bling factor not a performance mod.

Yes I know they did it in the McLaren F1 but it was the entire engine bay not just the intake.

So you measured the IAT's and they were the same? I highly doubt that. Or did you just measure the temperature in the engine bay?

One thing I know for sure is, you won't be hurting anything by having thermal tape / wrap on the intake pipe. The heat wrap for headers, downpipes and etc would be working in the wrong direction I believe.

Was this at idle or was this while the car was in motion and at speed?

I use reflect-a-gold on my fujita. Doesn't seem like it does much..
