Default Oversized piston question

Hello Folks

So I had an engine failure at the weekend in my race car I'm running a Ap1 F20C engine and box. To cut a long story short it melted 2 pistons and scored the bores on cylinders 2&3. It was run in standard format to develop the car with the plan to build the engine in the off season. The failure has moved that up. Now for my question I have searched and can't seem to find a definitive answer regarding fitting .50 oversized pistons to the block. Can the standard block be bored and honed that much?

Thanks Brian

The block can be bored quite a bit, but getting pistons that will work and be reliable is the problem. Mahle pistons are so expensive that its nearly the same price for us to dry sleeve a block and use wiseco pistons.

Wadzii thanks for the reply liners it is so. I could go buy another stock engine but you never know what your getting. The 12.5-1 compression will only help more power is always nice. What size pistons would you recommend?

To further the question along these lines. Im currently running 89mm pistons on a Golden Eagle sleeve. Am I maxed out for another rebuild prospect, or can I reliably squeeze out another 89.5-90mm+ out of it?

on a boosted setup 90 is asking for it.. beyond 89mm is usually a custom deal so you could go 89.25 or something along those lines.

Wiseco only has 87, 87.5 and 89mm pistons.

CP offers 90mm pistons for the F series. I also would advise against 90mm bores. The spacing between each cylinder is already very tight. The bigger you go, the smaller the sealing surface is between cylinders. The head gasket will be very narrow in those areas. For n/a, could probably just get away with it.
