Default Raising compression with a head gasket?

I've been thinking about doing the spoon head gasket to raise engine compression

Would this reduce the piston / valve clearance?
I'm revving the f20c to 9300+ with a stock head + AP2 intake retainers

What other ways are there of raising engine compression?

Yes, the valves are coming closer to the pistons. But the intake cams will be a bit retarded because the cam sprocket is in the head. This could help to increase the clearance again. Don't know how both effects add together.
Best way to raise C/R are new pistons with higher decks.

hmm sounds like it could be more trouble than its worth I wish I could find some help from spoon on this.. a before and after dyno would be nice too

Going this route I would be concern with stock rod stretch vs quench area, you might start hammering the head with your piston...
Cheers

you will be fine and it will run fine. keep in mind your only bumping up the c/r .5 same as putting flat face valves.
how much power are you looking for??

Cam timing will be off, so you'd need adjustable cam gears to compensate. You would also have less P2V clearance.

I wouldn't be able to do the cam gears or cams.. I'm building the car around the Nasa TT rules. I can bump the compression up to .5 for free

Well for what its worth, i ran the Spoon gasket on my 2.2 Motors. i reved them to 9k. No issues with hitting pistons, jus snapping rods from the RPMs. Lesson learned :/

What do you think about running flat supertech valves and a spoon headgasket?
