Default Synthetic oil?

I just bought a 2001 with 99k mi on it. The sticker on the window says the last service was at a Hyundai dealership and didnt say anything about using synthetic oil. I took it to a honda dealership today to get it serviced again and they said its better to put normal 10w-30 in it. Ive read a few places online and it seems like most people are running fully synthetic oil. Is it a problem running normal oil? or should i take it back and have them put fully synthetic in it??

There is no problem running regular oil as long as you change the oil and filter regularly. There are lots of oil threads on this in S2000 talk and UTH forums. I think the only advantage of running synthetic is if you do track driving, especially on hot summer days. Just use good brand oil with a good filter and change it regularly since it's cheap enough.

I'm religious with my oil. I always use Mobil 1 5w-30 or Castrol Syntec 5w-30 along with a hamp or honda oil filter.

It doesn't matter. I've never once heard of a motor failing because of what type of oil or filter was used. Just keep it fresh and your good to go.

From the factory the car came with 10w30 dino oil so it's not a surprise that the dealer recommend it. I use synthetic myself. For the oil filter though, make sure they use the PCX one!

synthetic handles higher temperature, durable and better protection over mineral oil. i don't see a reason not to use synthetic.

I thing as long as you stick with a factory filter and the same viscosity you really shouldn't have a problem with using full synthetic. (But then again I could be wrong)
