Default Test Pipe - CEL Light... How not to.

I want to get a test pipe and use it with my otherwise stock exhaust system, some have said it wont sound good, im willing to give it a shot.

Either way, what do I need so that the computer wont throw a CEL. Is there a CEL delete module or something? I know I had something like that on my Mustang back in the day.

Thanks!

00-05 can use use 2 antifoulers to space the secondary o2 sensor from the exhausts stream to prevent a CEL. This method seems to be hit/miss for 2006+ S2000s, more miss than hit.

The only way I know is to use a Kpro which allows you to disable the secondary o2. Perhaps the upcoming FlashPro can too. Both are made by Hondata. I would call and ask about the FlashPro being able to disable the secondary o2 sensor.

You will need to get one the above tuning tools regardless. With your 2006 S2000, you will run lean with a test pipe.

the berk one has the cel fix built in....basically an extension for the O2 sensor mounted in the middle of the pipe...it's allows the O2 sensor to sit far enough away from the flow of the gases that it won't trip a CEL...it's supposedly 95% affective for 2000-2005 models but for 2006+ there apparently is a bit more incidence of tripping CEL's...even then I would imagine there would a couple tricks to prevent it...the best guy to talk to is Bryan at Berk Technology: http://berktechnology.com/contact.aspx

they also make a high flow cat if you decide to be a bit more conservative

and btw a test pipe should sound pretty nice...I do agree that you'd wanna combine it w/at least a nice cat-back exhaust...not sure if by itself it may sound too raspy and drone...I would invest in a decent moderately priced cat-back exhaust

Just get a defouler and stick some amorphous silica filament yarns in there. Works like a charm.

Is there any further description of this process in a stickied thread somewhere?

can you clarify on why a test pipe would run lean on 06+?

Yeah, it really sucks for us 06+ guys, but what I've found to work quite well... Is the T1R 90 degree elbow cel fix. I have that installed along with another T1R extension. The cel would still come on, but it would take 2-3k miles and would go away again within a day.

Looking forward to the Hondata FlashPro, cause we'll be able to delete the secondary o2 sensor. No more CELs!!
