$^#&*% fuel cut!
i had did some research, including asking a national champ buddy about ap2 fuel level. i was told "1/4 tank is fine". nope. nada. not even close.
lesson learned. i hit fuel cut on left handers with HALF a tank of gas. damn, what a piss poor design. the car would flat die on me, so much that i thought i had hit the key with my leg and shut the car off. so, i wasted all of my runs save for the last one. i ran out, topped off, and the car was a completely different animal after that. sucks i figured it out before my last run.
i did run the car a few weeks ago, but did not have any fuel issues with the half tank that was in it, but it was a lower grip surface, with no high G left handers. oh well, live an learn.
*EDIT* i just did a quick refined search on the subject, and apparently this has been covered a bunch of times... dammit, that is what i get for trusting people. remind me to punch GJ Dixon in the face. thanks.

Yup, many of us have been in the same boat. I've found that I don't need a full tank but try to run well above 1/2 tank to be sure. By the same token, it doesn't always happen - course and driver dependencies. It's even possible that you may be able to drive around it by being smoother but there's no guarantee that anything other than more gas will help...

Just for completeness, my response to your PM is essentially that I just try to be >1/2 tank. Generally between 2/3 and 3/4 tank, I'd guess on the lower side.

So, are you just having fun with the S, or are you replacing the SM car?

although, if for some reason the current Sm car (future rally car ) takes a dump, then i will run the S nationally. my heart is in SM though. compared the SM car, the S doesn't have the outright mechanical grip or acceleration, but it does have great brakes and awesome view out of the cockpit

Just to report, my '08 CR with 2 bars above 1/2 tank, fuel starved after a 1st to 2nd shift out of a left hand sweeper. Conditions were cold and grip was down. Guess I will be running a full tank from here on out!
