I'm not sure if this is allowed, but I would look for some used Tein SRC's. I've seen them sell around the 2k mark on the forsale forum. Great reviews from track guys on this forum.

Your going to want better suspension then any of the above if your running in STO. I turn a lot of heads when I tell them what my STU S2000 runs at sebring. Front running STO cars are 13 seconds faster! (hoping to close that gap to about 8-9 seconds with the K24 swap).
You can do AST 4100's for AROUND that price.

STO runoffs video from Jerry's car.... These things are FAST! Just look at the closing speed in his wreck.

yeah I can't imagine he means sto. if you did, you wouldn't want any of those shocks unless it was $2k for a pair

Yeah, you don't go into an STO build with a Budget LOL. Even already fast cars get a 6 figure budget in that class.

yes you heard correctly. STO! I have to run sto because of things that are already done to the car. I was building a time attack car but changed my mind. I cant go back to stock and sto is the only option. I planned on getting the tein src system but there is sooooo much other stuff to buy! im not trying to be the fastest. im just using my s2000 to work my way up, regionals, nationals and then from there I plan on renting seats in different series. I've done my research ive compaired lap times from midiv and my times from trackdays. If you guys wanna help, point me to someone that could sell me a set of src's in good shape. thx.

edit: oh ya, im only 22. this is all being done by myself no sponsors, no motorsports shops. Just me and my 10mm socket wrench so yes I have a budget.

Good luck with that.

Sell car. Buy Spec Miata or Showroom Stock C car.

I admire your willingness and courage to build an STO car on such a budget. That being said, if I were in your shoes, I'd take a look at changing some things up on the car rather than building to a class that I wasn't going to be competitive in. I know you said you're doing this by yourself - have you though about what would happen if you wrecked the car? Then where would you be?

I'm only 23, so I'm in the same boat as you. Do you have any W2W racing experience? If not, then I'd work on that first rather than building a racecar. Focus on you as a driver first (which in my opinion can ALWAYS be improved), then start working on the car. Have you factored into your budget the money for fuel to tow to events and all the other stuff that comes along with that? I have no clue where your financial situation is, but honestly, a $2k suspension budget is what most people building serious street cars that track occasionally are willing to spend. Even a competitive TT or STR car would be over that budget.

Like I said, I admire your aspirations, and I know that what I say probably won't have any affect on your end decision, but I think there needs to be a level of reality added in.

Best of luck.

Also, IMHO it's not real W2W if you're gobs slower than the other cars. You'll be a rolling roadblock and annoy the other drivers AND not learn where you're losing time as a driver unless you're amongst similarly prepped cars.

I have to agree with CKit and aCab on this.

It's very hard to effectively rush your way into a class of racing in which you can barely afford entry to the back of the grid. If you do indeed have the speed in you, spend your money on Spec Miata or Karting if you're really mounting a program. Otherwise, take some time to climb some more reasonable types of tracking & classes where you can be competitive.

If you're already of the mindset of renting some seats once you go national, I'd go the Spec Miata route and either buy a proven chassis or start renting now.

My opinions are worth the price paid.
