At this year's Nationals, all A Stock and B Stock cars had to submit to a mandatory weighing for "informational purposes". It's widely assumed that the results of the weigh-in will be used as data points in the S2000s-to-AS decision.

The 3243 lb 350Z also has a Nissmo exhaust which begs the question "what else did Hammond/ Hohl do to lighten their car, or is the enthusiast really that much lighter?

Chris Hammond's 350Z is a stripper. It is the lightest model that comes with a LSD. The only modifications are koni's and muffler delete (he takes the muffler off and bolts on a turn-down tip)

Thanks for the info. Typically are people weighing in with 1/4 or 1/2 tank of gas? Looks like I would be in the 2740 to 2760 range.

Thanks for the info. FWIW I don't think there is a difference in the fuel pickup on the '04. Marc McCombs starved badly running just under 1/2 tank at Atwater Tour. Maybe there weren't as many long left hand sweepers on the Nats courses?

Also regarding the '04 wheels, Kodiak told me they could do it on the '04 according to the dimensions I sent them. I'm not 100% sure why it's different than the '00-'03, but here's my guess. I heard the problem with making a custom 2 piece wheel for the S2k was that the bolts which attach the rim to the spokes would hit the caliper. Perhaps with an extra inch of diameter and the same brakes, there is now enough room for the bolts. Also since the wheels are wider, but the same offset, you could theoretically put more material in the hub area, keeping the spokes farther away from the calipers than you could on the narrower 16" wheels.

I know the McCombs car had the Mugen exhaust at Atwater as well. Looks like the weight differences are not that significant on the '04. Tires probably make more more difference than the wheels- those 275s are heavy!!!

For Sucsy/Nguyen, add the following information: 1/2 tank of gas. Stock wheels, stock exhaust, Koni Sport shocks, custom 1.25" bar.

Steve, Carl, thanks for the info -- I added it to the chart along with some other stuff that I knew off of the top of my head.

People will generally run with about a half tank of gas -- less than that and you risk fuel starvation. Cars went straight from impound to the weigh-in, so these weights should be as-raced.

FWIW, we were at 3 bars over 1/2 tank of gas and I still think the scales read heavy. At Toledo I weighed in with the same setup (maybe a bit more gas yet) and was at 2670 lbs, which I find to be much more believeable. Saini also thought the scales read heavy by about 15 lbs.
