2012 Speed Ventures S2K Challenge Rules

Nice. I have a ton of room to work with for points in stock class now.
I'm currently at 0.125 with a hardtop now...
I could pinch a 235 tire on my stock 7.5" rim up front and add a CBE. Or, I could do CBE+Intake and find another 0.125 somewhere.
Is a 225 tire on a 9" rim too much stretch? I could run 9" rims square with 225/255 and take off my hardtop at the track and just run open top...

Thanks for the getting the rules up guys.
Sounds like rcomps will be defacto in modified. Looks like I'll be going back to an apr gtc 200...
Any street class guys need a set of 255 rs3's with only one day on them? Also, I'll probably be selling the Voltex type 3.

That sucks Albert. Did the rules change so much that you need to switch? Doesn't make sense, seems like the same ole s2000 royalty didn't pay attention it's current loyal constituents again.
Keeping 4 classes is still not in the best interest of growing the series. The dilution of competition in each class last year was well apparent.
Is there more information on the 2013 Spec W2W class? Will it be run through SV? What licensing will be required? Its nice that you're giving everyone a heads up to build their cars. But what good will W2W cars be without licensed drivers to hop in?
Or is the W2W class just a big tease again?

The reason why we allowed NT01 in Modified Class this year is so that people moving up from Stock or Street Class could take their time upgrading toward the 2013 Spec Class setup this year. Instead of having to immediately spend thousands of dollars to be competitive in the 6.5-point ceiling of Modified Class, they can use R-Comps for part or all of the season this year and spend a bit less this current season on modifications.
Ultimately, we made the points such that you would have to make some significant sacrifices in order to run R-Comps in Modified Class. For instance, what kind of setup would you run in Modified Class with NT01?

Jim - I can run street tires and make the class no problem. I just don't think 'most people' (which includes me) can be competitive in modified without running rcomps. It was expected though. I'll probably keep the big wing in anticipation for 2013, but its hard to make 6.5 points with it. So without jumping to super mod (unless everybody is going there ) the following would be my 2 possible setups:
0.000 Softtop
0.000 OEM Front Bumper
2.000 Voltex Type 3
0.750 255 Front tire
0.500 9in wheels
1.500 HKS coilovers
1.750 NT01's
6.500 Total
OR
0.125 Mugen style hardtop
0.250 Aftermarket front bumper (Maybe bump to Level 2/Splitter and remove a power mod)
1.000 APR GTC 200
0.750 255 Front tire
0.500 9in wheels
0.250 Intake
0.250 Testpipe
0.125 Catback exhaust
1.500 HKS coilovers
1.750 NT01's
6.500 Total
0.000 Softtop
0.000 OEM Front Bumper
2.000 Voltex Type 3
0.750 255 Front tire
0.500 9in wheels
1.500 HKS coilovers
1.750 NT01's
6.500 Total

0.125 Catback exhaust

Great thanks for posting the rules up!
Are the rules set in stone now?
I thought the GTC200 / 1S wing will be 1.5 points? It is 1.25 now? IMO the wing would still be undervalued by a bit
Also changing this would allow street class to run:
17x9 - 0.5
255/255 - 0.75
Lvl2 Wing - 1.25
Coilovers - 1.5
Total = 4
This may close up the gap between street class and mod quite a bit, is this what we want?
It allows competitors to use 4 pretty significant mods in terms of laptimes, leaving the difference between street and mod mainly with Rcomps, lvl3 aero and power mods. Are these 3 enough to seperate the classes far enough?

Nam, I still think the tire difference is too big to overcome. I think this is especially true for those of us with skill/talent levels that are mid pack or lower (thats me! ) But I'll keep the gear needed for spec class since I am almost there.
