225 on a 17x9?
yea unless they are the same car and i just didnt know the whole time. Im not too well versed in road racing. but i figure just because it works for a miata doesnt always mean it should work for an s2000. different weights of the car etc. from what i have seen 235 for the front seems to be the magical size for the road racing threads. like i said im not very familiar with this topic.
It's simple math guys, it doesnt matter what car you apply it to.
The ideal setup for road racing is to get the tire squared up to the wheel as best as possible.

225 with a 9" will be fine up front. Not dangerous if that’s the concern. If your running in a class that cant use anything wider then 225, it would actually be the preferred rim width to get the most contact patch and steering response out of the tire and that’s great for the front of this car.
It’s the same profile as running a 255 on a 10" which is also the preferred combination to get the most out of the tire.
Generally speaking, running the same mm width rim to tire width is what you always want to aim for to maximize the tires performance. The only reason this wouldn’t or isnt done is because of fuel efficiency on the street, cant find the right fitting offset, or a race class where a set rim width is part of the rules, so you will see guys running overly sized tires to get the most tire they can on the ground, even though in more extreme cases it hasn’t improved any grip due to the muffin top dished contact patch, but did lose handling precision.

It will look a bit stretched on a 9" wheel but nothing too crazy. It might look a bit odd with the fronts a bit more stretched than the rear.
I had 225 Rivals on 17x9 PF01s and they were a bit stretched. I drove these around on the street after I switched to another tire. Im sure you will be ok, I ran extra pressure to be on the safer side.

A tire that is pulled taught on the maximum recommended width rim provides less sidewall deflection and therefore more precise feel from the road to the steering wheel, running a tire this way up front is always optimum. A tire that's more forgiving on the rim can aid in traction on the drive wheels. Though I prefer to run the maximum recommended rim width for the rear on this particular car as well.
boyguan if you for whatever reason decide you don't want to run the 225 I will gladly take them off your hands for a fair price.
