Default AiM Solo 2 DL questions!

I have a '07 SSM with all the regular track setup (coilovers, pads, SS lines, wings) and recently upgraded from my HLT setup to an AiM. Since I'm interested in data and thought iPhone and Wifi compatibility would be additionally helpful, I got a AiM Solo 2 DL.
After getting frustrated using parallels to rund Windows on my Mac to use Race Studio 3, I setup my AiM. Current config is:
1. CAN Bus enabled
2. Honda - Civic SI 06-11 (seemed to be most similar years to my car)
3. LED bars set for RPM (shift lights)
4. 3 pages for predictive lap timing and ECT, oil temp, etc..

Unfortunately, when I hook up to the OBD port, I only get battery voltage, and no other data comes over (RPM, ECT..).

Anyone have similar issues or figured out what ECU/OBD/settings to get data to cross over?

TIA

Probably not, but do you have anything else wired into your OBD? I had issues where with my AIM system wired in, I couldn't get flashpro to read the data because the AIM system seemed to be "sapping it all up". Disconnecting rather than just turning off the AIM system allowed the data to flow freely.

Don't have anything else connected to the OBD, unfortunately. I've plugged it in and out a couple times with no change. I assumed my Civic SI profile was the wrong one. Bummed AiM doesn't have a S2000 protocol.

Just to update the thread: reached out to AiM tech support and this was their response.

"we do not have an S2000 specific ECU selection. You will want to utilize the protocol Manufacture: OBDII , Model ISO9141-2. "

Will try it out and report back.

The ISO ECU protocol did not yield any data.

I've searched the forum, but there is no concensus on how to communicate thru the OBD to the ECU.

Anyone have any insight?

There are local drivers doing this with the OBD port so it 100% does work, in race studio connected to the solo with the OBD port plugged in you should be able to see live readings. do you?

FYI I have been able to get something off nearly any OBD2 car using my solo and alligator clips on the basic OBD2 lib.

A 2006+ ECU will stream a lot of useful data over canbus on the obd2 port. When we were running stock ECU we were able to pull TPS, brake pressure, steering angle, and a bunch of other stuff using our RaceCapture Pro, it took a lot of reverse engineering though.

I'm not sure if AIM lets you define the canbus interpretations, but if it does you could use a canbus sniffer to figure out the messages and the format that you care about, but it will take some time and you have to have a decent understanding of how canbus works. Alternatively I'm pretty sure RaceCapture has an out of the box configuration for the S2000 now on their forums, you could head over there, download that and translate it to AIM's configuration and be everyone's hero.

I will try it and report back.

When I reported to AiM support that using the ISO protocol didn't get me any readings, this was there response:

" From my understanding of the vehicle, it is K-Line communication only to the OBDII port. Pin 7 at the OBDII. Perhaps CAN is available, possibly at the ECU, but for having been available for so many years, if it was possible we would likely have it documented.

If you have the ability, I would recommend a harness continuity test. The possibility exists for an issue in the harness. "

I have not tried to mess with Pin 7, but my car is low mileage previously mint example (before I got my hands on it) with wiring harness work, so it's kinda puzzling.

I did try the generic OBDII - CAN protocol and do get some data, but it is limited to RPM, speed, oil temp/water temp (not sure which one it is), IAT, fuel level, and brake pressure. Better than nothing, but disappointing for a 2006+ car.

This sounds like what you can expect. The only sensors the later ECU lacks that i like on competition cars are oil temp and oil pressure, else you can derive almost everything you need from the above.

alright so i bought a wiring kit to pull RPM and speed into the AIM Solo but i'm stuck trying to figure out how to get the AIM to recognize the signals as RPM and Speed. Anyone have any ideas or places where i can read up on setting up custom signals?
