Alignment with a 225 wide V700 Front Tire?
I'm narrowing down my choices for an autocross tire, and most roads are leading to the Kumho Victoracer V700's. They, of course, are offered in 225 width as the narrowest 16" size. I know that a stiffer front sway bar is recommended to balance out the added grip up front. I'm wondering if a front alignment, with say 0 degrees of camber, could help accomplish the same thing as the sway bar. You'd lessen the grip of the front end of the car, and also gain some braking power by having the tire perfectly flat on the ground in a straight line. Has anyone attempted this, or would this not reduce the front grip enough? Would you have to dip into positive front camber for this to work? Has anyone tried removing the rear sway bar for the same effect? Just looking into alternatives to the front sway bar upgrade. I'm sure I'll end up with a front bar, but I'm just curious. Thanks.
You will need to "retune" the suspension and you probably won't get it right on the first try, but the first try will tell you how close and therefore what else to try.
I'd go with less than stock neg camber and then after a run you can always disconnect one side of the rear sway bar to see what effect that has. Disconnecting one side is the same as removing it from an effect stand point. That is unless we have a middle brace too. We don't do we?
There's ice on the ground, I am not going outside and laying on the ground to find out!!!
