I wouldn't have a problem if the SCCA wanted to include my letter as part of the public record. However, I don't think that publishing committee findings is in any way the same. The SAC, like the SEB, are representatives of the membership. They are the experts on the stock class. They take all the member input, filter it through their own expertise, and make recommendations on the behalf of the members and what they think will serve the members best. If the SEB makes a decision contrary to their advice, I'd like to know that, and get some sort of explanation about why they did so.

In the US government, committee findings are not kept secret. Neither are the voting records of the representatives. If I understand correctly, in SCCA Solo, committee findings are kept secret. How about the voting records of the SEB? Can I find out how my representative voted on the recent stock classification decisions?

Doesn't that make the win that much sweeter?
It just makes it more frustrating for those with "Real Stock" s2000s to compete.
Namely the wild 02-03 models competing with the more relaxed balanced 04/05.

Whats next onsite front sway bar sales, adjustable shocks, and alignment rigs to help make the stock S2000 people competitive in a stock class.

The choice only benefited the best and most competitive.
As a proving ground to pull off more braging rights or upsets.

As Steve mentioned might as well put the Elise in A stock too.

There was one car in the trophies on stock shocks with only a FSB added.

The '00-'01 are a little more "wild"...The '04+ just needs an alignment. See any one of 100 "oversteer" threads to sort it out...

Those same adjustments are given to every stock class car.

I'm not on the "A+" list and I think it'll benefit me.
The classing may benefit you too if you have some fast guys in Boxster-S's, C-4's, Evo.'s, or STi's in your region. Running with the faster crowd will inevitably make you go faster too (or maybe just quit with the attitude you seem to have about the situation).

And if the Elise goes to any Stock class it'll be SS. Don't doubt a SP classing, initially.

Quick question:

My '02 S2000 is currently campaigned locally in BS on Hoosiers, etc. If I were to install racing seats over the winter, to intentionally push the car into Street Prepared, would that put me into ASP or BSP?

Thanks, and Kind Regards, Chris

PS: The racing seats would allow me to use anti-submarine harnesses that I cannot currently use with my stock seats (have Elda roll bar), when I run track days.

B.S.P. as of 1/1/05 (if approved by the BOD). ASP until then.

I use a 6 point harness with my stock seats and Elda bar. The anti sub straps are bolted to the rear seat mounting bolts. When not in use, I tuck the strap into the back seat pocket. When I need them, I fold the seat forward, and push the straps through the gap between the bottom and back of the seat. I then sit on top of the straps.

!!!This may not be a safe setup, as there is a possibility the anti-sub straps will ift me out of my seat in a frontal collission!!!

There's no consensus on whether the '04 cars are faster than the earlier cars.

As Todd pointed out, sway bars, alignments, and shocks were all free before this move, and the first two were mandatory to have any hope of success at the national level.

Enjoying your pity party?

Steve
