Default Am I cheating?

I really hate to start a thread about this because I WAS pretty sure I knew the answer to this already, but I wanted input from as many people as possible for this one. I went to a local autocross yesterday and when asked what class I was in I said "I used to be in BS but I've taken out my cruise control and A/C" at which time two different organizers replied that I was still in BS as long as took out all related equipment, meaning the entire system. I said OK and went on my way, but it was bothering me so I asked another 'official' who also said I was still in BS because both are optional...before anyone jumps on me because they are not, I know they aren't HERE but they are in other contries. Still it bothered me, I felt guilty running BS so I asked the guy who had earlier addressed the entire field about classing and he too said it was fine. Is it fine? I figure it is optional equipment somewhere and it is remotely similar to running JDM wheels as it makes the car pretty close to Japanese spec, and also increases performance. Well, I took the class, with only three other cars in BS, by 7/10s, we were all on street tires. Was I cheating?

Also, I hate to make this any longer but, would there be any issues with running 225/245 tires f/r with the stock sway bar?
I'm debating between pilot cups which I'll also run on the street and Hoosiers for track only.

Technically, you cannot remove either system in stock. It doesn't matter how the car is optioned in other countries, only the US. I still wouldn't call it cheating. More like mis-classed.

The 225/245 combo can work, depending on the actual width of the tires, the brand of tire (compound and void area), driving style, etc. Generally, though, if you want to increase the front tire width without increasing the rear tire width, you should get a bigger bar. If these are R-compounds, wheelspin will necessitate the big bar anyway. Saner is cheap and is available in the GoFastLab.

Edit: Btw, the JDM rims are legal because they are the same width, diameter and offset as the stock USDM rims and there is a specific allowance for that change in the rules.

Pilot cups take too long to get heat into them for AutoX. You won't be as competitive with them for ~60 second course. Especially with the cooling down between runs.

Take the money you would have spent on Pilot Cups all around and buy a set of Victoracers and a Saner bar for the same price instead. You'll be much happier and much faster.

What they said.

A caveat on the Kumhos if you go that way - I wouldn't use them as street tires since the heat cycling will harden them up. A seperate set of wheels would be useful for this.

I was thinking about a set of Hoosiers with those sizes, I'm pretty sure they don't make 205s for the front, also how well do the kumhos work with our car, are they anywhere close to the Hoosiers? Also I have a Saner bar just not installed, should I put it in and get a set of Hoosiers, or can I be competitive on the Kumhos?

Any other opinions on this? I'm using the Muzz and considering switching to the Saner. From some calculations I've seen here, the Muzz is only %50 stiffer than stock, or less than the Saner even on the softest setting. Anyone concur?
