Boy, that does a pretty good job of blocking the rear-view mirror

Looks like it would be pretty difficult to safely strap down a set of wheels and tires.. and at over 150 pounds, I wonder it will handle the dynamics of the load hung out there beyond the wheel base. Does anyone here have experience with this rack or similar?

Looks to me like it wouldn't safely hold more than two, max. If anyone wants me to take a look at one of those carriers in person, there's a dealer near me...

The reason I posted it was that a miata guy at auto-x uses 2 Yakima bars over his trunk to haul 4 205x15 tires. Just an idea. I was thinking 2 or 3 wheels would fit on the trunk lid,

I think the weight, I'm assuming you'll be carrying 4 tires mounted on rims, will dent the rear deck lid?

Allroadster.com carries what appears to be this rack and their website says it carries 75 pounds safely. I suspect that 4 tire/wheel combinations would exceed this, but I've never weighed them.

I also don't see how you could tie four down safely even if the weight weren't an issue, but maybe someone else can find a way.

One in the trunk, one on the passenger seat, and two on the trunk lid carrier!

Figure about 40 pounds per rim/tire combo (17 in. Kumhos on 15-lb. SSR Comps). So it'd be stretching it to get two of them strapped on. Of course, you could shave off a few pounds by letting air out of the tires.
