If the ap1 wheel came in a 17 I would prefer that over any other ap2 wheel.

Also the ap2 wheels allow the use of some bbks I believe (very limited)

Ap2v3/cr wheel makes it easy at the track to check pad depth and bleed brakes without removing the wheels

I believe the castle but under certain conditions may actually touch the ap1 wheel when using an after market offset ball joint like the js racing.

There are better tire sizes and more width with any AP2 wheel, not necessarily the V3.
Please refer to my post just before your response.

Besides tire selection (including size, width, etc), why are AP2 wheels preferred (over AP1 wheels).

Shouldn't tire size be enough of a reason?

The wider tires on the AP2 wheels will give you better heat management, better grip and better turn-in response. What other criteria could you possibly be looking for to make the choice?
