AP1 Squirely
I saw a BMI video of AP1 stock vs AP2 stock vs AP1 modified. Of course the AP1 modified won, but the AP2 was a lot faster than the AP1. These were driven by professional race drivers...tsuchiya and other JGTC drivers.
Personally, given the same driver, I think AP2 would be faster and is more confidence inspiring.
To get the most out of the AP1 on track, I think some alignment changes needs to be done to compensate for its natural behavior. Wider tires is a must, at least the width of AP2 tires. It is not by any mean broken, just set up to be not for amatures like me.

I replaced my suspension bushigns on my AP2 with mugen.
I can tell you that the AP2 fronts are idential to AP1. The rear bushigns are diffrent with the exception of the control arm. The AP2 rear bushings are larger then the AP1 bushings. Actually, it looks like Honda used one of the larger bushings from the front on the rear for the AP2. (Not 100% sure)
I can't confirm this but the honda engineer did mention larger more foregiving bushings were used on the AP2 on an interview. I don't think they made the bushings stiffer as they wanted to make the car more progressive to the tires limits.

In a related question, has anyone actually confirmed that the mugen bushings are in fact stiffer than stock? My impression was they were simply repackaged Honda bushings. For the Civic's and Integras, they sell the "stiffer from honda" Integra R bushings as the "Mugen" bushings.
The ones I've bought had honda part #'s on them but, they weren't for a '2k though.
