Question AP2 Race car w/o VSA/ABS: Feedback requested

Hi all,

I have a NASA TT4 race car that I am planning on bringing to NCM motorsports park this weekend. I went for a test drive yesterday to do a general shake down (loose bolts rattles, etc). I saw my VSA light came on and pull the code via blink method and came back with DTC 81-1, VSA failure. This is my second time the VSA died (replaced it once before). I am at a point of racing without ABS and I always disable VSA on the track, but I've never raced without ABS.

In brake zones after long straights I always feel ABS pulsating, so I exceed the threshold of ABS with Hoosier R7 and Gloc R-16 compound pads. I wanted to get feedback from racers who race without it and if you have any tips of racing without it? I am going to keep the unit in place for this next race. Your feedback is helpful!

Sourcing a new unit is also expensive on ebay, though I did some cross reference research and the BMW MK60 unit is the same unit (different product number obviously) as our VSA '06+ units. Anyone know about this?

I have a few events on my 08 and no issues. Hoosier R7s and ST47 pads. Full TT build.

You should investigate what is actually causing the failure.

Yeah I can't source the problem. I still get dtc 81 from the blink method of pulling codes after trying reset the vsa light.

I fought VSA issues like hell. 2 things: 1. check tone sensor rings on axles. Make sure they are centered and contacting and not moving off the sensor in corners. 2: unplug the steering angle sensor on the column right behind the steering wheel and see how that feels on track. You will have lights but it was defeat the entire VSA system and leave ABS function. ABS must be functioning in the DBW cars or you're F'ed on track as braking will default rear. My post:
