AP2 street/track setup
Hi, I am new to S2000, and hopefully to get some from help you.
My background. I had a supercharged 2001 Mazda Miata NB, and I drive the car once or twice a week, and go to 5-6 track events a year. So far I have 20-30 track events with my Miata, and I have the following setup for Miata.
Suspension:
Fat Cat Motorsports (FCM) 550/350 adjustable coilover
SuperPro bushings all corners
Racing Beat front sway, Racing Beat reinforcement bracket, 949 endlink
Flyin' Miata frame rail reinforcement kit
Beatrush Rear Performance Bar
Brakes:
Carbotech XP8 performance brake pads (front and rear)
Wheels and tires:
Advanti Racing Storm S1 15x8 Black
Nitto NT01 205/50Z15 Track Day Tires
Now I sold my Miata and replaced it with a 2006 S2000. I plan to do the same thing - drive the car once or twice a week, and go to 5-6 track events a year.
After doing some research on S2000. I plan to do the followings.
Suspension:
Keep the stock suspension for now, and replace it with KW Coilovers Variant 3 in the future.
Brakes:
Based on my research, I lot of people cracks the OEM rotors. So right now, I plan to get the front StopTech Big Brake Kit (ST-40 Calipers, 328 x 28mm Rotors), and keep the stock rear brake calipers and rotors.
For the pads, I alot of people recommends Carbotech XP10 for the front and XP8 for the rear. Carbotech make pads for StopTech Big Brake Kit, so I will get front pads (CT609-XP10). For rear stock brake, I will get CT537-XP8.
Wheels and tires:
949Racing 17X9 6UL 5x114.3 lug, offset +55
Ventus R-S3 (Version 2) 255/40ZR17 (4 corners)
1) Any comments/recommendation?
2) Will my brake setup create problem?
3) Will StopTech BBK will able to fit inside 6UL rims?
Thanks!

Welcome Supra33202 sounds like we've been on a similar journey. I had a 2000 supercharged miata w/Xidas, big fsb, carbotechs, etc...while doing very similar ratio of track days to around town driving per year and I picked up last November a 2006 S2000. Over the winter I've had plenty to read up on the S2000 platform and the good news is everything we've learned in miata world applies directly to S2000. From my reading, these are the items I "invested" in for track readiness:
1. Urge rear rotors. Leaving the fronts alone for now and will travel with a spare if I start cracking rotors. Theory being as I learn the car I won't be crack rotors day 1 and running the rears cooler should lower temps on the front. We'll see...
2. G-Loc Front 10/ Rear 8 pads
3. Billman TCT
4. Amsoil MTF / 90w-110 diff fluid, ATE brake fluid, etc..
5. Hankook RS4 on Enkei PF01 wheels which will clear the stoptech BBK. I can't answer on the 6UL but pretty sure I've seen cars for sale w/6UL and Stoptech.
6. Sakebomb brake lines
7. Sakebomb oil cooler kit (some will debate the merits of an oil cooler, not going there)
8. Hardtop
9. Marrad Seat (I'm a bigger guy)
Longer term I plan to buy:
1. BBK.
2. Baffled pan
3. Ohlins FPSpec from SakeBombGarage
4. Boost.
Couple of other bits of advice is I drive my S2000 a TON more than my miata. It's so much more refined in every way. My miata was pretty much a track car where the s2000 I want to keep street-able. Unfortunately there's not a Flyin' Miata type vendor for these cars but a handful of good vendors who each have their own specialty.
PM if you have questions about any specifics.
