Default APR Wing Data

So I found some CFD data on the APR wings at their SEMA booth.

GTC-200

@100MPH
0 degree about 120lbs of downforce and 17lbs of drag
15 degree about 170lbs of downforce and 25lbs of drag

GTC-3000
@100MPH
0 Degree 240lbs of downforce and 25lb of drag
15Degree 320lbs of downfoce and 35lb of drag

These are from memory so they could be off a few lbs, but the information is generally accurate.

The GTC-500 was in a whole different league at 1000lbs of downforce and a lot of drag as well.

CFD? So those are predicted, not measured?

CFD is incredibly accurate in calculating drag and lift over basic wing structers

Really? Do you favor lifting line models, panel methods, vortex lattice, or what?

CFD data is better than no data at all. You are an engineer, you know how how handy a tool CFD is.

All I wanted was confirmation. When it said data, I assumed measured. Then I saw it said CFD, so I wondered which it was for sure.

CFD is better at predicting absolute values of lift (downforce) than drag, generally speaking.

Not measured I'm sure, but CFD is better than nothing.

They had plots, etc.. oif the airfoil shapes. At least they did SOME engineering work on the shapes. I would guess a lot of the manufactures do not.

They had a GTC-300 on their widebody kit for the S2000. Looks like they will be coming out with an S2000 fitment next month.

Finally we get at least something. I still need to find someone to hook me up with some strain gauges.
