Default AST 5200 install

Hello,

I figured that people in the forum may have a bit more experience then in the general suspension forum.

Hello,

I just got my new shocks (AST 5200's) and I am unsure where I should mount the reservoirs and how to route the tubes given I don't think I can discount them.

In the front I was looking at going through the area for the steering rack or sway bar and mounting it onto the chassis cross member and just adding some shielding from the engine heat.

Other ideas, my lines seem shorter than those with moton's that I have seen.

Ideas?

If you have an intake, I have seen them mounted to the crossmember as you say. I have mine mounted in front of the radiator.

Or you can do it like Random1:

Thanks, I am pretty sure my lines wont reach that in front of the radiator location as the line is about as long as the shock is itself.

I should take a closer look at Rob's setup but he was not back from nationals yet to talk to him.

I just put them on mine. Ran them up through the holes in the front upper frame area behind the headlight buckets. Ran them around and built a bracket to mount them to coming off the shock tower.

Thanks, how long are your lines? I am not sure if I will have enough to do that.

What about the rears?

Car had moton's on it previously so it already had holes cut in the rear to put the reserviors up in the trunk bolted to the cage. Brian at AST asked me how long I wanted the lines when they were making the shocks and I just told him... really long. I'm guessing the lines are at least 3 feet if not more.

You can snake the hoses and such through some holes in the fender and then zip tie em in place. Make sure to check hood clearance before you get too happy about your placement.

That would be idea, however my used ones came with shorter lines so I think I will need to mount them closer to the wheel like Random1's penskes... which means I need to get dirty to adjust them
