Default Auto-X Class help

Hi Guys,

I have an '00 S2000 with a completely stock suspension w/ 70k on it.
K&N Intake, J's Header, T1R 70R single exhaust, Competition Stage 2 Clutch + Light Weight Flywheel, AP2 Trani and stock 4.10 diff

I am going to start auto-x'ing this upcoming spring and want to get my car ready.

I'll be running Hankook R-S2's on AP1 OEM rims 205/55/16 front and 245/45/16 rears.

I want to know if running a Cusco front bar with a MY06 rear bar with these tires will be as benneficial as possible without spending $600+ on a uber-stiff front sway bar.

I plan on eventually upgrading to coilovers maybe buddyclub with 10k/8k front/rear spring rates but I doubt I'll ever go to R comps and if I do then I'll change the bars.

I want to get competative, but $600 for a bar is a little steep for me.

P.S. My rare parts above were bought used so please don't me for not wanting to spend major $ on a bar

Thanks

James

What class do u plan on running and being competitive in? A street tire class would be your only option...but if it is PAX-indexed then I believe with those mods you would be considered street modified or street prepared...where I believe the s2000 is not as competitive compared to the evo/sti. With coilovers and stiffer springs up front, an uber-stiff front sway bar will be less vital. A Cusco bar with a good coilover setup might be a good match. I can only speak from my limited experience in A-Stock autox, which says the stiffer the better, especially when dealing with S2000s... FYI, I'm running the Gendron Solid Bar now, and it's fantastic.

Good luck.

I haven't thought about which class yet? I'll be racing mainly with SCCA at nassau coliseum in Uniondale NY and a few other clubs that run there. I would run in whichever class my car would qualify to run in, definitly a street tire class.

with those mods i think your car will have a index of SM, so to be competitive will be hard. You could demod the car to get your index down to bsp, but that may be a lot of work you don't want to do.

There are a lot of swaybar threds on here but i say go with the cusco one, its cheap, and stiffer than stock.

Is this your 1st autoX? Honestly unless you are an awesome driver it will a battle to be competitive.

I have auto-x'd before but only as a noob. I want to start getting serious. I was never classed before just in the Novice category.

What is SM class, street modified?

And if it takes me getting to be a much better driver in order to be competitive.... that's kind of the point and the challenge I want to undertake!

Thanks guys for the advice.

Stock is competitive enough in the big clubs. SM is usually outrageous. Sometimes SM cars all break down or dnf, so you might get some points.

most people in street mod have been racing for quite some time. You going to buy race tires?

anywho sways bar.... with the mods you are running you might as well go both front and rear with adjustable endlinks, maybe swift sways?? i dono its hard to say...
