No you aren't.
15.1.C
Equipment and/or specifications may be exchanged between
different years and models of a vehicle if (a) the item is standard
on the year/model from which it was taken, and (b) the years/
models are listed on the same line of Appendix A (Street Prepared
Classes). The updated/backdated part or the part to which
it is to be attached may not be altered, modified, machined or
otherwise changed to facilitate the updating/backdating allowance.
Standard factory installation methods, locations, and configurations
are allowed. The updating and/or backdating of
engines, transmissions or transaxles must be done as a unit;
component parts of these units may not be interchanged.
If the AP2 and AP1 transmission were exactly the same (which they aren't) then you could do so.
If you could do the engine/tranny "piecewise" then you would see the ESP 4th Gen Camarobirds all running the LT1 '93 tranny that has a shorter second gear. But you don't because you can only use the LS1 T56 with the LS1 car. The LT1 T56 bolts right up, but the motor is obviously different so its not legal. All the fast LT1 motor'ed cars will run the '93 T56 though (well if they aren't they should be).

It simply says that it has to be a direct bolt up which it is using factory locations and that i can't modify the unit.
I'll have to consult an scca official cause the part you quoted confirmed what orthonoal had to say about the trani but doesn't mention anything about the clutch.
Thanks

I just happen to have a Saner bar for sale
Unless you would rather keep your Cusco bar for it's "JDMness"
I laugh at how ppl think anything JDM is good, but in reality, the "true" race parts aren't from Japan at all.
Anyway, just run SM2 for now, try it a couple times, see if you like it, THEN take the plunge with parts.
For your setup, the Cusco is not stiff enuf.

and i think with the ap1 and ap2 tranz thing you have going on... as far as my understanding goes is you have to have almost every component from that car on your car... i looked into it because i was looking to swap out the S2K CR springs and struts into my car.. cant do it and stay stock. if that helps you at all i dono but good luck, they are a blast to race!!
Nick, James' interpretation is correct. The rule means that the engine must be updated as a unit, the transmission must be updated as a unit, and the differential must be updated as a unit. It does not mean that the entire driveline has to be transplanted intact.
There are plenty of SP cars running backdated differentials or transmissions. Lots of Miatas, for example.
James, you're welcome to write a letter asking for clarification of the rule. Send it to seb@scca.com.

Hi guys i found this in the rule book ortho so graciously provided.
15.10 section O
"Any metal clutch assembly, metal flywheel or metal torque
converter that uses the standard attachment to the crankshaft
may be used. Non-metallic friction surfaces (e.g. clutch disks)
are permitted. Dowel pins may be added. Any hydraulic clutch
line may be used. Minor repositioning of the clutch slave cylinder
is allowed to accommodate the alternate clutch, but the unit
may not be relocated and the repositioning may serve no other
purpose. This allowance does not permit the substitution of
slave cylinders or the use of non-original methods of clutch
actuation (e.g. pull type versus push type)."
