Default Auto-X questions (AP2)

So I just got back into an AP2 06 S2000.........I used to have an AP1 02 S2000. I auto-xed for a little over 2 years in my 02 S2000 until I sold it. So I still have my old AP1 16" wheels and I planned on running the rest of our SCCA season this year. To save some $ (until I pick up a set of 17's), I had planned on running my old AP1 wheels on my 06 AP2 - am I going to have problems doing this (oversteer? understeer?). I still have my Comptech adj. racing front sway bar that I've been debating about whether or not I need to put it on? I had planned on running on Hoosier A6's at 225/50/16 fronts and 245/45/16 rears...

Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks, Brian

The change of wheels, even though it is detrimental, still bumps you to BSP. Something to consider. Might want to put street tires on the AP1 wheels and use your stock AP2 wheels for autocross.

detrimental? Wow, it'll be that much of a handful aye? I'm assuming I would have to deal with a ton of oversteer? I was hoping adding the Comptech racing bar at full stiff would help.

I think he means *detrimental* as in narrower available tire widths. For example...in V710s you can run max of:

225/265 widths on AP1 rims
245/275 widths on AP2 rims

Hoosier A6 has somewhat more options, but you get the point.

You have to use stock rim sizing (within 5mm offset) if you want to run AS. If you're trying to be competitive in AS and save money, you would be better off using the stock rims for autox and the AP1 rims for street (as suggested above).

You should be fine on 225/245 tires with the Comptech bar, methinks. I don't know any autocrossers that do it but some track junkies are running non-staggered tires on their AP2s.

See you in a couple weeks.

CRDMS1 interpreted my message correctly. Narrow rims = narrower tires = slower times. The balance should be fine
