Remember the 80/20 rule...80% of the gains come at 20% of the cost, the last 20% of gains cost 80%...Also separate your need to haves and want to haves. I think you're on the right path, run what ya have and improve upon that, then move up to STR. I started in STR because mine already had class changing mods done to it and there is nobody in BS where I race so it would've been boring.

For almost twice the price new, I'm just not sure if that extra 150 lbs/in is worth it So for BS is this consensus to just use OEM wheels? Are there any popular 6.5/7.5 width wheels for Bstreet?
Overall, I would say the AP1 S2000 has no chance against the Corvette in BS. Moving to STR closes the performance gap some, but the AP1 is still an underdog.
+1

The car will fair far better in STR trim but it's still going to get out accelerated anytime/anywhere you are flat compared to the AP2. Being a madman with 1st gear downshifting will help and is critical especially on local lots. The AP1 is a blast to drive, enjoy it.

17x9 w/ 255 71R, or try a 245 if it shortens gearing
I run 245s. They're lighter, cheaper, result in better gearing, and warm up faster, but at the expense of ultimate grip. I would recommend them over 255s only if 2 conditions are met.

1. Most of your courses are more acceleration-dependent than average (nearing redline in 2nd) I race at FedEx field, and I swear somehow the whole course is uphill.

2. You tend to underdrive the car rather than overdrive it, generating less heat in the tires (I do for sure). The 245s will warm up faster
