Default Availability of Kumho V710s?

Does anyone have any updated information on the availability of the Kumho V710s in the standard stock class sizes? The press release from last November indicated that the 225-50-16 and 245-45-16 would be available around April of this year. TireRack shows the 225-50-16 on back order, but has no information at all on the 245-45-16. A call to Kumho USA didn't provide any further information. I was told that the 225-50-16 was on backorder and would be in California in "a few weeks", but they had no information on the 245s. Anyone have any better information from a reliable source?

The rumor is that there will be no 245/45/16 V710 size in the near future.

I was told by a person at Kumho that the 245 size wont be available until around January 2006. I was told that they were thinking of doing the 245 size earlier for 16 inch wheels but decided to put that size off until next year.

Yep, and be sure to order them months in advance....I'm sure they'll be as elusive as my rears (255/40/17) have been this year (ordered 3 weeks ago....still another 2 weeks to wait....if I'm one of the lucky ones).

Let me add this little info to your post. Hankook is going to be introducing a new full D.O.T race tire in Mid April. It is going head to head with the Hoosier and Kumho. The tire will be the Z214.

During testing down at Roebling Road in Georgia, the most abrasive track in the world, the Hankooks proved to be as fast as the Hoosiers and lasted a little longer.

The test was 18 laps which is one session. The tires were stickers. The Hoosier made 16 laps and was corded. The Hankook remained as fast as the Hoosier and still had life. The Kumho, let's just say the 710 needs work. It fell off so bad you would be sucking hind tit in 4 laps. Great Qualifing tire...

For those that are going to track days only I'd suggest the Toyo RA1. Great prices, can be shaved and will outlast anything on the planet.

Can you fit those on a stock wheel without rubbing? stock suspension?

On another note, has anyone tried Victo V700s up front with Ecsta V700s in back? Some of the Miata guys run that; supposedly the best turn in and drive off the corners.

There's just one catch. Hankook isn't going to be making the z214 in 245/45-16.

hankook z214

Ignore everything above given that the post was specifically asking autocross tires. What works on a road course doesn't necessarily work on an autocross course, and vice versa.

For autocross, the Kumho V710 is clearly faster than the Hoosier A3S04; the new A3S05 allegedly addresses this. As far as I'm aware, no one has yet tested the new Hankooks in an autocross environment.
