Availability of Kumho V710s?
A3S05 will be available April 1. Got my fax from Hoosier last week.
Avon's Tech R is an Autocross only Compound. Not that anyone at the Rack seems to know this.
Hankook makes a 70 compound which is the Autocross compound as well. Already tested to be faster than an A3S04.
From the comment above seems Kumho either made a too soft "R" compound or they make a specific "A" for autocross. I have no idea about that.
sorry if I was off target earlier, just got excited.

Joe Goeke sucessfully ran a 215/225 V710 combo at the San Diego Tour - the tires looked really skinny, but the car was absolutely planted according to Joe. Until Scott McHugh's last run Sunday, he got closer to Scott than many others that have tried... For example, he was only a few tenths off Scott on Saturday.
Could run into gearing compromises with the skinny tires depending on the course, though.
As for the 2004 S2K's, would a 245/275 V710 combo work, or am I missing something? If so, both those sizes have hit the shores...

[QUOTE=swiftone,Mar 15 2005, 08:20 AM]Here is a statement on the 2004 Solo Runoffs:
"42 Solo II National Champions for Team-Hoosier in the 59 classes which they competed in. The 42 class wins was also more than all other tire manufacturers combined."

swiftone, no offense, but perhaps you should consider actually coming out to some national-level autocrosses and driving on the tires you're talking about before passing judgment on them. It's accepted as fact at this point that the V710 is a better autocross tire than the A3S04.
Can you share the data which conclusively proves that the Hankooks are faster than the A3S04s? What cars were used? Who were the drivers? What was the surface? Were the car setups optimized for each tire?
Steve

I know nothing of autocross compared to you. As for coming to an autocross, it is not financially feesable to do so for us. We are the SCCA cendiv and NASA midwest dealers. So we are book up almost eveyweekend anyway.
Thanks for the info on the slick classes. That is good to know. My only question would be how many of these Kumho tire guys are actually buying tires as opposed to getting them for free. I personally have problem with free tires, but it does tend to be skewed to the front runners anyway. Which makes for unbalananced results. The real test would be to see the guys who buy tires and finish 4- whatever and do a tire check.
Thanks guys for showing me how stupid I am about autocross, let me take my foot out of my mouth.
As for the Hankooks, it was a factory test before production. So it remains to be seen if they can back the numbers up in real life. But if this past weekend in Fontana was any indicator, the new Z211 they use in NASA (50comound) USTCC was 1-1.5 sec faster than the stock Toyo. Which when we've ran Toyo's up against Kumhos and Toyo's it was usually more like .5 to 1 sec compared to a new set, but the others back up pretty quick and the Toyo's get faster worn down so it evens out eventually.
We are optomistic with Hankook, an even newer Z214 is coming which has already proved on a road coures, to be even faster than the Z211. Only time will tell. Definetly keep your eyes on the board as I will be updating any results we see this season. Good Contingecey too!

Todd, slightly off-topic, but do you know anything about the US availability of the new Toyo T1-R in 225/40-14? I think it would be a good tire for the Solo2 STS and STX classes, where tires must have treadwear 140 or greater.
Thanks!
Thanks!
