Default Best source for Toyo RA1's?

I know Vilven used to be cheapest with good customer service, but it appears their prices have increased.

Is there now a better source for Toyo track tires?

Most likely full tread...

Sorry, I only know Vilven.
Interesting, how much higher is Vilven?
Are you really sure you want full tread? Really sure?

http://www.1010tires.com/tire.asp?tirebran...l=Proxes+RA%2D1

245/45-16 = $199.99
205/55-16 = $169.99

How does this compare to Vilven?

May want to call them
http://www.ec-securehost.com/OnlineTires.c...m/Toyo_RA1.html

They don't list the 16" sizes I have used as a standard, but their other prices are attractive.

tiresaving.com looks like good prices, but I don't see that I can get them shaved.

275/40 - $188
235/45 - $196

Why's the bigger one cheaper? Maybe more common or overstock???

O.K., so I guess rumors that Vilven prices had become uncompetitive are unfounded...

They are nice to work with.

I ran my last set unshaved. Certainly slower when new than after "track-shaved", but I had no problems with chunking or failure.

That would be my conclusion.
I spent a lot of time finding the few places I did...

Yep, I got a brand new set from Vilven last week; 225/245 shaved and shipped to NV was $722 total. It's gone up a bit from previously reported prices on the board, but I still couldn't find a better deal. Plus, Vilven shaves the tires following their contour and not just flat across without regard for shape. The guy who mounted/balanced them for me commented "you didn't get these haved here in town."
