Default current trackable tires in the preferred 16" OEM sizes

Not auto-x, not slicks, road course trackable tires.

Thanks.

Now what about the preferred rear tire size of 245 / 45 / 16 per the sticky here?

Of course I'd like to keep a matching tire in a 205 / 55 / 16 in the front.

I wouldnt stuff a 245/45 on the back, you're gonna have too much sidewall flex as it is compared to 17s on track. Compound is more important than tread width. This is especially true if you're going to keep a 205 in the front.

You'll need to go through and click on the tire specs to get the tread width for each.

The OE tires had a width of 9.2" . The SO-2's on TR's site show a width of 8.1" so they're not the same as the original tires for the AP1. It actually says "Porsche" on the description.

To make it worse, the OE front tire was wide for a 205 as well.

Not correct. The tires made for the AP1 were specific to the car. The specs were not the same as typical 205 and 225 tires.

If he puts a regular 225 tire on the back of the AP1 it will be too narrow. Actual width would be that of a 245. There's a ton of threads about this.

Stock wheels are 7.5" in the rear. Optimal fit for a 245/45/16 is 8", little bit of stuffin' there.

Tons of threads that are misleading regarding the importance of tire width...
Actual section width of the S02 was just under 235mm, just like any of the current crop of extreme perf 225/50-16s (same 9.2" as RE71R and others). There are Tire and Rim Association rules about tire sizing, basically section width can be the specified size +/- about 10mm

The S02's tread width was published as 8.5" (216mm), whereas the RE71R's tread width is only 7.6" (193mm). But guess which one will run rings around the other one, though... There are more important things than section width and tread width.

FORGET the stickie. 225/50-16 is perfectly fine.

Except the current S-02 in 225/50-16 is narrower than the old S-02 as they are Porsche specs, similar to the way the original tires for the AP1 sized.

Compare the specs on TR's site.

The BFG's and Conti's are wider than the S-02's and PZero's that are now offered.

There's an inch difference in the tread width between the different brands.

I used 205/55 and 225/50 rs3v2's on my AP1 wheels.. They worked just fine for me.
