Default Best track setup with AP1 wheels.

So I currently have 17x9 rpf1s wrapped in Bridgestone RE11As 245/255 as a daily/track setup. My car has been seeing more and more track time as of late and it is also daily driven..so I've been thinking of having my track/street setups separate.

I like my RPF1s and would prefer them to be on the car while daily driving. So I've come across some AP1 wheels, they're 6.5/7.5 and I'm wondering what's the best track setup using those wheels??

The setup I have now has proven to be extremely grippy and it's fantastic. However I put a lot of miles on the car and everyone knows how expensive buying new tires every couple months gets.

Thanks in advance

I tracked my car for a year with AP1 wheels with stock sized Star Specs. 205/55/16 / 225/50/16. It's a great setup, good grip and balance. Also less expensive to keep tires on then. I enjoyed the setup while I had it, and will probably go back to it at some point for a "budget" setup when my current 17's need replacing.

I burned through tires on stock AP1 wheels. They are cheaper, but you will use a lot more of them and you cannot rotate.

I found a 255 square setup to last much longer through a set of tires.

This is true, but the OP was running staggered sizes anyway, so he couldn't rotate.

OP, what kind of track work do you do? Just the occasional HPDE?

I was actually thinking about running a square 255 as my next setup. But I would like to have two sets of tires since I drive my S a lot and the 16s that are for sale are pretty cheap.

Mostly time attack events, the occasional autox. Roughly 2x a month for a time attack event and once every 3-4 months for an AutoX.

Not sure if they are still around, but the TireRack wheels were extremely cheap.

I'd even go XXR's. They seem to do fine on a couple Chumpcars that I know of...
