Default BFG R1

Just bought set of this to try out (255/40-17). Those of you that tried them what hot pressure did you end up with?

I have not run these but I have heard very good things about them. A number to SCCA S2K's have said that they are faster than the Hoosier R6 and that they last a lot longer and do not drop off Like the R6. They are a bit wider than the R6.

I'm interested to hear your thoughts after running them.

Please include some information like:
* What tires have you run to compare against.
* What is your setup. Alignment, wheel size offset, coilovers, sway bars.
* Tracks you are running them at.
* conditions.

Thanks
Have fun and keep us posted.

I have NT01 on the car right now, they are close to the end of their life. I will probably run half a day on them and than switch to BFG. I will try hoosier after this are gone.
TRM wheels, 17x9x62, eibach front bar on soft, ohlins, 2.2 front, 2.6 rear with 1/4 total toe. Rest is pretty much stock, no aero kits.
Going to Laguna on 20th.

I recommend you get the car aligned before you go to the track:

Front Camber 3.0 Caster Max

Rear Camber 3.0 Toe in 1/4" AP1. or 1/8" AP2

you will likely need camber joints to run this alignment if you don't have them already.

Think about getting 17X10 wheels. 17x9 is narrow and not optimal for 255 especially the R1 which runs wide.

It is aligned, max I can get out of it.
BFG R1 is smaller than NT01 according to their posted dimensions (by very little, -.15" width and -.12 diameter).
Caster is 6.

I might be at Laguna on the 20th if I have my drivetrain back together in time.

Last June at Laguna I measured hot pressures around 36-37 psi on a set of 225/45-17 R1s. The car was working well.

That is pretty close to what I was running on NT01's, 38 hot.
Hope you make it, Laguna is always fun and it is 105 for those that like to make noise.

I wouldn't be afraid to try lower pressures and see how you like it. Say in the 32-35 psi Hot range. They'll take a lap or two to come in, but they will probably be faster for it.
