Big track at Willow Springs
Hi guys,
going to Big Willow this weekend and was wondering what gears you guys take the turns in. I did the turns in 2nd to 4th gear and was wondering if most of you take the turns in 3rd to 5th gear. A detailed description of turns and gear would be appreciated. I know, of course, that emulating others is not the proper way to go faster and any inputs would be appreciated. bill

Assuming stock gearing-
You're in 4th or 5th at the end of the main straight.
T1 - 4th
T2 - 4th, 3rd if grip is low
T3 - 3rd
T4 - 3rd
T5 - 3rd
T6 - 3rd, or 4th if you shortshift
T7 - 4th
T8 - 4th, 5th if power is good
T9 - 4th

I usually don't hit 4th until after T6, but that's because I suck getting around T5. I've also found that T6 @ full throttle gives you that wonderful sinking feeling that your wheels are no longer touching the ground. I'm hoping that the new wing will add some very welcome downforce there. (It sure helped in T1 @ Laguna)
