Racer's tape is high tack/high strength used to keep broken racecars from coming apart at high speed. The low tack stuff I think is gaffer's tape which is designed to come off without leaving any marks.

 

The next time you smack someone in a race and your front bumper is dragging on the ground or flopping around you'll know what to use it for. Unlike in an HPDE, during a race you don't stop just because you bent it.

 

Has anyone tried the green stuff? I hear it's faster.

Actually, one product was labeled "racer's tape" and the other was labeled "racing tape". I don't remember which was which, but they were easy to tell apart. The stuff I like does seem to be more commonly called gaffer's tape.
