Default Brake disc

Tire Rack has the Brembo replacement rotors on sale 57.00 ea. are they any better than the Centric? They look to be a one pc rather than a two pc.

You know, some people swear by the Centrics... but others have noted that the metallurgy does make a difference in crack resistance and wear.

I think the Brembo's are good value for money. It seems everyone's rotor abuse varies quite a lot though. I absolutely roasted my Brembo blanks at Laguna Seca, to the point of boiling ATE brake fluid pretty badly, and they are still holding up just fine.

If you are interested in a two piece floating setup in the stock rotor size that will work with the OEM front caliper, the guys at Girodisc will have an S2000 application available very soon. The price is obviously much higher than a normal one piece rotor, but the replacement rings are priced quite well relative to other 2 piece setups. In the end I think this is the most cost effective option even though the upfront cost is so much higher. And not ever having to deal with cracked rotors could be worth it.

Thanks for the heads up on the Brembo discount! I will likely pick up another front set.

I hate that girodisc's are 600. How about 400 and they'll fly off the shelves

But then you only need to replace the rings after that... which are not $600

From what I have been told they are closer to $500 for everything, and then around $150-200 a ring after that. Don't know if the price is set in stone yet though. I believe these will by far have the best ring replacement cost of any 2 piece rotor for the S2000 that will work with stock calipers.

It really just comes down to how often you go through rotors in the end. But a rotor that is better at clearing the heat will also mean less pad wear, less hub/bearing wear, less caliper wear, brake line wear and so on. It seems like the core of the problem and a good one to solve.

That's decent for tirerack, but I found a site that had them normally for $55 when I was still on factory rotors. I can't remember the site, I just searched google and picked the place with the cheapest price.

Let's hope they're not as expensive as racingbrake. Their 2-piece kits were around $600 too and it was $400 for a pair of replacement rings. These companies know they've got the guys with factory calipers by the balls and the prices reflect that.

We're lucky we have common rings with our BBKs. Your discs are larger than mine, but I can't imagine you're paying much more for rings than me.
