Default Brake fade

This weekend is going to be my first track day. I replaced the OEM pads last week with a set of Cobalt GT-Sports and bedded them via the instructions. Initial bite and pedal feel are a tremendous improvement over stock.

However, 2-3 hard stops from 60-70mph in a row causes significant brake fade by the third stop. When the brakes are cool, a hard stop from 120 mph kills the brakes by around 60mph or so.

I'm still running the stock fluid which is 2 years old. (Still clear-amber in color though).
Since brake pedal feel when the brakes are cool is superior, I don't think that the brakes need to be bled.

I have two bottles of Motul 600 and I'll be replacing the fluid on saturday before my track day this sunday.

Will just replacing the fluid fix my brake fade problem?
Do you guys get any fade when you do a hard stop from 120mph+?

The OEM pads and current fluid did NOT fade this quickly. (Although performance was admittedly less).

i get no fade from 150 to zero, the next stop is a bit faded though, the stock brakes have only faded on me a couple times, granted no trake days but i have used the shit outa them on the street. Made em smoke a few times and whatnot....3 hard stops should not fade them out like that from anythign i have experienced or heard of others experincing though.

It's only clear-amber in the reservoir. I'd bet the fluid that's in the caliper is ugly.

BTW, are you going to be out Saturday or only Sunday? See ya!!

I have to agree with Mike. You may have gotten on them hard but not in a repeated fashion with short time between each application like you encounter at the track.

I thought the Motul 600 was not ABS friendly (I went with the Cobal-GT Sports and ATE SuperBlue for an HPDE at Road America a few weeks ago).

May I suggest upgrading the fluid to the ATE. There are lots of manufactures that manufacture pads for our car. The Axiss ultimate's would be a good starting point.
