Default Brake Pad Recommendation for HPDE?

Hey all,

I'd like to keep my stock pads for the street and just use a track specific pad for track days. Does anyone have any suggestions. Looking for both good performace and a good price. Thanks!

I don't know about a good price but porterfield R4 pads,Earl's brake lines,ATE brake fluid, and brake ducting to keep everything cool worked flawlessly for my last track day. I cooked everything else that I tried until installing the ducting. I used temp paint with the cooling installed and determined that the front rotors went over 550 degrees but under 630 degrees. This may be more than you want to deal with if it is your first track outing. The car will perform just fine if you don't drive to aggressively and you are just trying to determine if tracking your car is something you're interested in pursuing further. Good luck!!

Use Porterfield R4 pads and ATE Superblue fluid.

Can I use the R4S? Or do they have to be R4?

If you're going to be changing out the pads to run on the track then R4 is the answer.

The R4S fall apart with only moderate use at the track. As has been suggested, if you're swapping for use at the track and then going back to street pads the R4's are a better choice. R4S is good for track newbies only.

R4S worked for my first few track events after I grew out of the stock pads.

BrakeMan #3 was great, and also usable on the street, but wore out way too quick.

Panther Plus is my current track pad, and seems like a good option.
